1 Position Overview

Valterra Platinum — formerly Anglo American Platinum and now an independent, publicly listed platinum group metals (PGM) producer — is seeking a qualified and experienced Mechanical Foreman (Underground) to join their Engineering team at the Mototolo Der Brochen operation in Burgersfort, Limpopo. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and productive mechanical maintenance operations through the supervision of a team of artisans on the shaft. This is a permanent opportunity with one of South Africa's most significant mining companies as it enters an exciting new chapter following its demerger from Anglo American plc.

A valid Trade Certificate (Mechanical)
A Foreman Certificate
Minimum of five years post-trade qualified work experience
Valid Code 08 driver's licence
Basic computer literacy — MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and SAP

Advantageous:

Supervisory experience within a mining or engineering environment

Chairing green area meetings at the start of each shift day
Setting daily, weekly, and monthly technical performance targets
Interpreting and applying relevant legal standards and mining regulations
Shutting down sections where necessary to carry out required maintenance safely
Assisting with long-term maintenance planning and performance efficiency initiatives
Reducing costs associated with incidents through proactive maintenance management

NB: This role carries direct legal accountability for compliance with all relevant mining regulations and legislation governing underground mechanical operations. The successful candidate must be comfortable exercising the authority to shut down operations when safety or maintenance demands it.
