No. The National Department of Health explicitly states that applicants must not have previously participated in any internship programme. This opportunity is strictly for first-time interns. If you have completed a prior internship anywhere, you will not be eligible.
What is the monthly stipend and how long is the programme?
All 30 internship positions carry a monthly stipend of R8,174.78 for the full 24-month duration (2026–2028). The programme runs for two years across all functional areas.
Do I need to submit certified copies of my qualifications when I apply?
No. At application stage you only need to submit a completed Z83 form and a comprehensive CV. Certified copies of qualifications and supporting documents will only be requested from candidates who reach the final selection phase.
How do I know which post to apply for?
Apply only for the post that corresponds directly to your NQF Level 6 qualification. Each post has a specific field of study requirement and a unique reference number. Quote the correct reference number for your chosen post — the Department will not be liable for applications submitted with incorrect reference numbers.
How will I know if my application was successful?
Correspondence will be limited to shortlisted candidates only. If you have not been notified of an interview within three months of the closing date (01 June 2026), your application should be regarded as unsuccessful.
